Safe on the Internet: We are Informed, We are Protected, We Act! <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today, February 24, our school had the pleasure of welcoming a representative of the Greek Police, who visited our school unit and spoke to the students about a particularly important and topical issue: internet safety. This action was held on the occasion of the World Safer Internet Day (February 10) and was linked to a corresponding activity that we implement within the framework of the European eTwinning program, in which our school participates. During the presentation, reference was made to the dangers that children and adolescents may encounter on the internet, with particular emphasis on the phenomenon of cyberbullying. Police spokesperson Ms. Olga Karafyllia suggested specific steps that we can follow in the event of cyberbullying, such as: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 not to respond to offensive or threatening messages, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 to keep evidence (screenshots), <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 to immediately inform parents and teachers, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 to report and block the user, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 to seek help from the competent authorities when necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In parallel, safe and valid links from the state and the police were presented (SAFE.YOUth, cyberkid.gov.gr) which students and parents can visit for additional information, support and guidance regarding safe internet browsing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the event, students raised many interesting and substantive questions, expressing questions and concerns that concern them in their daily online activity. The answers given were understandable and particularly helpful, contributing to strengthening their knowledge and responsibility as digital citizens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
